When I was in second grade I insisted on being a witch for Halloween. I could not be convinced otherwise. My mom took me to Party City to look at costumes and they had this witch costume that was a floor length black polyester gown with purple and black striped tights and a witch’s hat with a purple wig sewn into it. I was sold! No one could convince me of any other costume.
Looking back on the pictures, I think someone should have tried to convince me to be something a little bit cuter because my brother (dressed as Bob the Builder) was cuter than me in literally every picture…. But, nothing will be cuter than these witch’s hat chocolate cookies!
These cookies are a chocolate cookie, rolled in Halloween sprinkles, and topped with a Hershey’s kiss! What’s not to love??
½ Cup butter, softened
½ Cup brown sugar
½ Cup granulated sugar
1 Egg
½ Cup cocoa powder
1 ½ Cups all purpose flour
1 Teaspoon baking powder
1 Teaspoon baking soda
Halloween nonpareil sprinkles
24 Hershey’s Kisses
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large mixing bowl, using a hand mixer, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
Mix in the egg until just combined. Add in the cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix until combined. Mix in the flour.
Pour the halloween sprinkles into a bowl. Using a tablespoon measure, scoop the dough into your hands and roll into a ball. Roll directly into the sprinkles until covered completely. Place on a greased cookie sheet and press down slightly to flatten the cookie.
Complete until tray is full, with about ½ inch of space between each cookie. Bake for 10 minutes.
As soon as they come out of the oven press an unwrapped Hershey’s kiss into the center of each cookie. The kiss will begin to soften. Allow the cookies to cool completely (the kisses will harden again) before serving.
